Job Description
Position: Lands Office Clerk
Location: Land and Resources Department, Mount Currie, BC
Status: Part/Time position – 2.5 days a week may turn into Full Time

Description

The Lands Office Clerk will coordinate the registration of traditional lands within the Mount Currie Reserves.  It will be their role to receive, process and respond effectively to public concerns and requests regarding on reserve lands, in accordance with the direction provided by the Land Management Board as well as the Land and Resources Director.  The Lands Office Clerk provides technical and administrative support for all Mount Currie Band reserve lands operations.

Duties Include:

  • Interacting with Band members to process all land requests and land transfers, and assist with all appropriate forms
  • Managing all incoming calls and correspondence related to reserve lands
  • Maintaining all land files and update database
  • Providing support to the land management board (LMB)
  • Arranging meetings, minutes, agendas for LMB and assist with facilitation where necessary
  • Working with the GIS Program on the collection of property data and assist in creating maps
  • Communicating with INAC Lands and Trust Services
  • Approving and following the Terms of Reference for the LMB
  • Assisting with the amendment and implementation of policies and procedures related to all on reserve land issues
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • 4 years minimum experience in related office employment
  • MS Windows XP, MS Word and Excel
  • Efficient with the internet and e-mail
  • Excellent oral and written English skills
  • 2 years Post Secondary education

Recommended Skills/Experience and Other Requirements:

  • Knowledge and understanding of land management and mapping
  • Working knowledge of land use planning
  • A valid BC Driver’s License
  • Maintain confidentiality on sensitive land issues
  • Ability to travel to training and meetings
