Sioux Lookout has a population of approximately 5,200 located on the CN main line and hub to 14 First Nation communities to the far north. Sioux Lookout offers a public and separate primary school system and a secondary school. The community has excellent recreation facilities – arena/fitness centre, golf & curling club, fishing & hunting opportunities. Medical facilities include two hospitals, medical clinic and dental services. Churches of most denominations are represented. The town is serviced by Hwy 72 off of the TransCanada Highway and by the second busiest airport in nortwestern Ontario.

In this rewarding role you will provide technical expertise in the development, maintenance and utilization of natural resources databases while implementing a variety of technical and administrative responsibilities in support of the districts geographic information system (GIS) as well as assist in the delivery of resource management programs and provide customer service to internal and external clients.
Qualifications: knowledge of GIS & GPS current technologies including hardware, software, and peripheral equipment; knowledge of and ability to use word-processing, database, spreadsheet, e-mail and internet software; knowledge of resource management principles, relevant legislation and techniques including data standards and operating practices for information gathering, electronic information and data transfer protocol as well as office and field equipment operations; good leadership, planning, coordinating, problem-solving, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills; knowledge of work planning procedures and ability to track and monitor budget; knowledge of worker responsibilities as outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act; valid driver`s licence to conduct site inspections and field surveys in remote areas.
