Education
- Graduation with a degree from a recognized university in a natural resource management discipline with acceptable specialization in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or a diploma in GIS from a recognised institute of technology.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS

Experience
Experience is required in EACH of the following:
Recent experience in providing professional and/or scientific data analysis, interpretation and modeling of data in support of resource management.
Experience in developing, managing and implementing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other Geomatics tools in support of resource management, including work experience in an ESRI ArcGIS and/or PCI Geomatica environment.
Experience in participating in multi-disciplinary teams by providing advice, interpretation and analysis of geo-spatial data and information.
Experience in designing and delivering training on geomatics-related tools (e.g., ArcGIS) and on data management systems and program, such as Relationship Data Base Management Systems (RDBMS), Sequential Query Language (SQL) and ArcSDE.

Work Environment
The Western and Northern Service Centre of the Parks Canada Agency is a network of professional and technical expertise established to support National Parks, National Historic Sites and National Marine Conservation Areas in Western and Northern Canada in the protection and presentation of cultural and natural resources.
Challenge
You will be working in a professional and technical interdisciplinary environment developing, managing and implementing Geographic Information Systems and other geomatics tools designed for science research and resource conservation in western and northern Canada. You will access, manage and utilize a large volume of complex spatial and non-spatial datasets that support the management and protection of national parks, and national historic sites. You will provide direction on data management to staff. You will provide guidance, advice and services to managers, scientists and other geomatics specialists in the use of different methodologies for acquiring, managing and analysing data and the impacts that different techniques, analysis and programs have with respect to managing natural resources. You will provide expert support on the use and provision of spatial analysis of heritage (ecological, cultural and marine), operational and socio-economic data for decision-making, planning, science and research and technical applications, including producing maps, charts and data reports. You will provide GIS training and support to the Western and Northern Service Centre, and facilitate the integrated sharing and management of data.
