Senior GIS Analyst – City of Bellingham, WA


THE POSITION
Performs a wide variety of advanced process/analysis functions to develop City’s
geographic information system (GIS); is responsible for its operation,
administration and information quality/integrity. Provides technical consultation to
a wide range of technical and non-technical employees using GIS to compile
reports and studies. Responsible for documentation and ensures integrity and
security of the data stored in the GIS and related/integrated databases. This
position is represented by a union; union membership is required within 30 days
of employment.

COMPENSTION AND BENEFITS
Starting Range: $57,216 – $58,932 annually
Full Range: $57,216 – $71,736 annually

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in cartography, geography, GIS or
related field.
• Four (4) years of GIS experience, at least 2 of these years in a Public Works
environment or performing equivalent work.
• Working knowledge of enterprise relational database products such as
Oracle, SQL Server, Informix and/or DB2.
• A combination of experience and training that provides the applicant with the
knowledge and skills to perform the work will be considered.

Describe your education, experience, and qualifications in each of the following:
1. Organization and management experience working as a project manager. Elaborate on your role as a
GIS-related project manager including project planning, authority, decision making process and team
leadership.
2. System administration and support of GIS applications; specifically GIS spatial data management with
SDE and web application using ArcIMS or ArcGIS Server. Elaborate on your experience with integration
of GIS with other business systems including any interfaces or applications developed.
