Algonquin Provincial Park is located on Highway 60, 5 km from the town of Whitney (population of 900). Medical facilities, churches of several denominations, and elementary schools (public and separate) are available in Whitney. Hospitals, dental services and secondary schools are situated in Bancroft (54 km), Barrys Bay (50 km) and Huntsville (100 km). Houses for rent are limited in the Whitney area. Duties: As a member of the Algonquin Provincial Park team, under the general supervision of the Park Administration Supervisor, you will provide the development, implementation and maintenance of the Geographic Information System (GIS) for the Algonquin Park Zone. To provide mapping of values related to Parks, Fisheries, Wildlife, Forestry and Cultural Heritage requirements.

Qualifications: knowledge of GIS technology including, ARC/INFO, ARC/View, NRVIS, Oracle, Access, and GPS and program specific software applications; experience in the mapping requirements and management of park fisheries, wildlife, forestry and cultural heritage values in a forest management planning context; knowledge of GIS analysis and output of spatial and tabular data for resource management issues/initiatives;
ability to provide/lead technical support to MNR staff and external clients for data dissemination and transfer by defining and developing data packages; ability to provide GIS/GPS support and training to external clients and Ministry staff; ability to maintain system hardware and peripheral devices such as PCs, plotters, printers, digitizers and scanners in the Zone; working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act; valid Drivers license.
