Business Unit Information
Land Information & Mapping supports The City’s land development, planning and maintenance functions by providing high quality infrastructure information and mapping services for all City departments and external customers.

Responsibilities
The Geocity Division has a Corporate mandate to promote collaboration and communication across Business Units to advance the management and delivery of geographic information. A major focus is to coordinate and facilitate alignment between geographic information related projects, initiatives and business processes within the Corporation.

Reporting to the Manager of the Geocity Program, the Geocity Project Manager will act as a team leader overseeing multiple Geocity projects and activities. The successful candidate will also have responsibility to deliver on specific projects or phases as required. There will be a requirement to follow standard Information Technology project management practices while contributing to the overall objective of ensuring that critical geographic information is available to customers when and how it is needed.

Primary duties and responsibilities include:
– manage project activities and ensure project risk mitigation;
– monitor project deliverables, staff activities, budgets and contracts;
– report on project status, measures and benefits;
– identify and develop project scope, charters, timelines, resources, deliverables, risks, policies and procedures;
– coordinate and track multiple projects and activities;
– coach and lead project team members.

Qualifications
The successful applicant must possess an undergraduate degree in Geography, Geomatics, Project Management or a related field. Applicants must have a minimum of eight years of experience managing complex, multi-participant projects in Information Technology and/or Geographic Information Systems. Completion of Project Management Institute (PMI) certification will be considered an asset. Familiarity with SMART project management is a definite asset.

Skills required to meet the challenges of this position include: highly developed technical, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills; strong analytical abilities; sound problem solving and decision making skills.
