Overview:
The Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council is looking for a Fish Habitat Biologist to assist its member communities in the protection and enhancement of fish habitat in the Lake of the Woods area. Specific duties include:
· Identification of community priorities through information and feedback sessions.
· The development and implementation of fish habitat projects identified as priorities by the communities.
· Education and training of community members in fish habitat protection and enhancement.
· Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
· A degree or graduate degree from a recognized university in a natural, physical or applied science with specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., fisheries biology, aquatic biology and ecology).
· Knowledge of the legislation pertaining to fish habitat in Ontario.
· Knowledge of both provincial and federal Species At Risk Acts.
· Experience in planning and implementing fish habitat protection or enhancement projects.
· Experience in the writing of proposals to obtain funding for projects.
· Experience in the facilitation of community meetings to identify areas of concern for community members.
· Knowledge of Anishinaabeg culture and language.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to use own vehicle.
