DUTIES: The successful candidate:
- Leads First Nations engagement processes
- Provides technical knowledge to the legal, cultural and economic issues as they relate to First Nations
- Participates on large scale negotiation teams
- Communicates technical knowledge to First Nations
- Establishes effective relationships with First Nations communities, government and business development.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will have:
- A university degree in the social sciences, public or business administration, community planning or communications
- Three to five years of relevant experience
- Strong project management, research, analytical and planning skills working both at the policy and financial level which may include business case development
- A comprehensive understanding of aboriginal issues and the changing role of First Nations in the province
- Well-developed interpersonal, research and analytical, oral and written communication skills
- A demonstrated awareness of cross-cultural issues and sensitivities
- Experience in leading First Nations engagement processes and providing technical knowledge on the legal, cultural and economic issues as they relate to First Nations
- Ability to handle multiple projects with a wide range of expertise with Aboriginal Relations or other related background.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Reporting directly to the Director, Aboriginal Relations and Negotiations, this position has corporate-wide responsibility for Aboriginal Relations initiatives as they relate to BC Hydro´s transmission, distribution and generation facilities.
- Participation on large scale negotiation teams, communicating technical knowledge to First Nations and establishing effective relationships with First Nations communities, government and business development are components of this role.
- Regular driving and overnight travel to various locations throughout the Province are required.
