MANAGER

International, Intergovernmental & Aboriginal Rel. , Edmonton – Do you wish to have an impact on the success of First Nation’s economic development? Do you possess a strong a track record in community development, possess skills in relationship building and are a devoted team player?

As a member of the First Nations Relations (FNR) team, you will have a strong impact on the success of the Ministry’s grant policy objectives, accountability and administrative requirements by developing and implementing strategies, initiatives and projects by effectively communicating and building relationships with clients. You will play a critical role in implementing the Government of Alberta’s First Nations Economic Partnerships Initiative (FNEPI) and will support FNR Managers by providing strategic leadership and management in the promotion and development of effective reporting requirements.

You will apply your strong analytical and project management skills to identify issues and develop and implement strategies. You will provide support, based on your extensive knowledge, to the areas of federal/provincial relations, economic development partnerships and capacity building. Externally you will represent the Ministry at various cross-ministry committees related to economic, community development, and best practices and will liaise with other governments, First Nations, Tribal Councils, organizations and industry.

Strong organizational and time management skills are critical to success in this role. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are necessary to work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications: University graduation in a related field (Commerce, Finance, and Economic Development preferred) and considerable knowledge and experience working with First Nations communities in the areas of economic development, business or financial services are required. Experience with financial controls and grant programs is required. Experience with policy development, performance measures and reporting would be considered an asset. Preference will be given to candidates with experience developing contracts.

Salary: $53,904 TO $83,964 PER ANNUM
