Sustainable Resource Development , Peace River – Alberta Sustainable Resource Development ensures that Alberta’s public lands, forest, rangelands, and fish and wildlife resources are managed within a policy, administrative and regulatory framework that benefits both present and future Albertans.
A challenging opportunity exists for a highly motivated Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technologist with a natural resource background and excellent interpersonal and project management skills. Reporting to the Team Leader and working within the Resource Information Unit, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining the regional data repositories, the provision of GIS support and training, data management, map production and information presentation.
You will have the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment in providing support in all facets of GIS and mapping. A high degree of proficiency and understanding of GIS technology, data management, cartographic principles and spatial data requirements and standards is required. Excellent project management and organizational skills to deal with multiple ongoing projects, shifting priorities and tight timelines are essential. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are required for frequent consultation with clients and co-workers.
Qualifications: A related technical diploma, preferably in GIS, supplemented with experience in the natural or environmental sciences. Equivalencies will be considered. Experience using ArcGIS is required.

Salary: $45,420 TO $59,484 PER ANNUM
