Extension Specialists (various), FORREX (Various Locations, BC)

The FORREX Partnership is seeking extension specialists in:

Indigenous Knowledge and Aboriginal Forestry; and,
Watershed Management; and,
Conservation Biology.

Duties:
Under the general leadership of the Extension Leaders, and as part of a team of specialists, you will work with FORREX partners throughout the Province to: develop and implement an integrated extension program of science and knowledge acquisition, synthesis and transfer; and to influence, promote and effect client innovation by facilitating advances in resource management and ecosystem management. You will do this by identifying client information needs; building extension and research partnerships; and, delivering extension education. You will provide a critical link between the research and resource management community.

Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in extension and group dynamics; Advanced knowledge of sustainable natural resource management, science, policy and operational practices in the areas of traditional ecological knowledge and Aboriginal forestry, socio-economics, forest management, conservation, landscape ecology, ecosystem and forest productivity; Excellent technical, communication, problem solving, project development, and program management skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently and effectively for an innovative organization and diverse client base; Working knowledge of British Columbia’s natural resource and research community, forest policies, legislation and regulations; Minimum M.Sc or equivalent and 5 years experience in both research, and policy or operations; Working knowledge of MS Office, MS Word, Excel, Access, Web-based tools, Outlook, and the Internet.
