Remote Sensing Assistant Professor, McGill University (Montreal, QC)


Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in Remote Sensing, beginning on August 1, 2008.  Remote sensing of the environment is a key aspect of many interdisciplinary research areas within the University (http://www.mcgill.ca/strategic/).

We seek a person with a research program in remote sensing. We are especially interested in individuals who will complement our expertise in Earth system science, GIScience, water, biogeography, land-use land-cover change, development geography, health geography, or landscape ecology. The successful candidate is expected to develop an externally-funded research program, embracing graduate student supervision and undergraduate teaching. There are excellent opportunities for collaboration within the Department and other units, such as the Departments of Atmospheric & Oceanic Sciences and Natural Resource Sciences, the Earth System Science program, the Global Environmental and Climate Change Centre and the School of Environment. Applicants must possess a PhD or expect to graduate by summer 2008, and have demonstrated excellence in research, teaching and communication. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
