Ministry of Tourism, Sports and the Arts, The Tourism and Resort Development Division – based in Kamloops, administers the existing portfolio of major resorts, ski resorts and adventure tourism opportunities on Crown land, and reviews and approves expansions and new resort proposals.

As Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician you will provide GIS services to the Ministry’s Tourism Division. You will create various digital and graphical mapping products and create and maintain various data bases to support tourism and outdoor recreation use, development and planning on provincial Crown land with the use of GIS Applications (ARCGIS). You will also perform data management, data capture, editing and updating.

As our ideal candidate you are service and team oriented, eager to work in a challenging role and a self starter. You have a Bachelors Degree in a resource management related field, computer science or geography and one year working knowledge of ARCGIS, or a Technical Diploma in a resource management related field or computer science and 3 years related experience plus a demonstrated working knowledge of ARCGIS, or Grade 12 and five years related, current experience plus a demonstrated working knowledge of ARCGIS or other spatial data systems; Preference may be given to applicants with Crown Lands, Forestry or government data model experience.
