Do you want to be part of an exciting new team designed to lead Alberta Environment’s Aboriginal relations? If so, keep reading!
In this position, you will provide support on Aboriginal consultation and manage consultation files. You will act as a partner to ensure that Aboriginal consultation is completed in compliance with the Government of Alberta First Nations Consultation Guidelines on Land Management and Resource Development and the First Nations Consultation Policy on Land Management and Resource Development. The process involves providing support on Aboriginal consultation requirements to staff and regional managers; participating on Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) technical review teams for major industrial and approval projects; assisting municipal and industrial approvals staff with approval applications that require First Nation consultation; and maintaining project specific consultation files.
Ideal candidates will possess strong relationship building, organizational and time management skills. Managing detail with precision, performing well with limited direction and working effectively in a team environment are also key to this role. Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills are necessary to work with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, and to present information clearly.
Qualifications: A related university degree and considerable related experience including working with, or in, Aboriginal communities is required. Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
Note: Final candidates will be asked to undergo a security screening. Some travel will be required. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at an equivalent or lower level.
Salary: $56,832 TO $74,496 PER ANNUM
