Duties:

The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Cartographic Technologist is responsible for updating Forest Resources GIS databases. Under the general supervision of the GIS Supervisor, the Technologist works in a computer environment digitizing and updating data to reflect the most recent information available from air photo interpretation, satellite imagery and field inventories. Production records are maintained by the Technologist to track the update of thematic digital layers in resource databases.

Qualifications:

The Technologist will have completed high school and a technical course or diploma related to GIS, computer-aided design (CAD), or comparable data editing; experience is an asset. The Technologist should have basic working experience with computers in a Windows-style environment. The Technologist should be able to work accurately and precisely with a mouse, keyboard, and computer screen for extended periods of time. The Technologist should be able to work cooperatively in a team environment.

Salary Range: $15.45 – $23.73/hour
