DUTIES:
In this position, you will perform technical mapping work related to the design, maintenance and distribution of GIS data and related information; including assembling spatial and related attribute data; producing related maps, reports and analyses; maintaining geographic information databases; and implementing and modifying procedures for data integrity and quality control.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in computerized mapping systems at an Institute of Technology plus sound related experience. Preference will be given to those with Municipal GIS mapping experience;
• Sound knowledge of computer assisted mapping and drafting techniques and procedures and of the software and hardware components of the mapping systems used in the work;
• Sound knowledge of programming methods and principles as related to the work performed;
• Working knowledge of coordinate geometry and survey computations as related to the work performed, and of relational databases;
• Ability to research, compile, enter, analyze and assemble geographic and associated data using an automated mapping system;
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts, and to employ contemporary service excellence principles;
• Ability to perform work accurately and to effectively organize work priorities;
• Skills in AutoCAD, AutoCAD MAP, Oracle Spatial, Microsoft applications and other related software;
• Skills in basic surveying, spatial editing, collecting and importing GPS coordinated data, and database management;
• Valid Driver’s License for the Province of British Columbia;
