ENKON Information Systems is a leader in providing web-enabled Environmental and Land Information Management Systems to clients throughout the world. ENKON is currently looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, enthusiastic geographic information specialist to join its dynamic team and assist in the growth of the company.
ENKON’s flagship product, enviroLIS, includes a web-based mapping module used to provide custom maps for industrial facilities and properties, rail corridors and stations, and a host of other thematic maps. Our GIS department offers full spatial data conversion, processing and data import services to our clients.
The GIS analyst’s primary responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining web mapping services
- Data manipulation, conversion and processing with ArcGIS tools
- Processing and documenting the underlying data models and metadata
- Researching data sources, evaluating licenses and acquiring datasets from third party vendors
- Organizing and configuring the data warehouse using ArcSDE on MS SQL Server 2005 platform
Secondary responsibilities include:
- Non-spatial data management and data conversion
- Quality control: test plan design and execution
- enviroLIS system documentation and specifications
You will have a diploma in GIS or a degree in Geography or a related discipline and at least four years of professional experience in the geomatics industry using GIS software. You will have strong computer skills and extensive experience with ESRI GIS products; ArcGIS desktop, ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE are required. Preference will be given to applicants with the following skills: SQL, Regular Expressions, MS Access, MS Excel advanced functionality, CAD, and GPS technology. A general understanding of networking concepts will be essential to success in this position. Familiarity with graphics programs such as Macromedia Fireworks or Adobe Illustrator will be considered an asset.
This position requires a very broad skill set and will suit the fast-learning, technically-oriented GIS professional. You will be located in Victoria, British Columbia but will be required to travel from time to time.
