Information Technology Services
The GIS Analyst III will have the following responsibilities:
- be a Subject Matter Expert in Geographic Information Systems; a leader in the GIS service area of Information Technology Services
- develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge and skill in the area of GIS support; specifically, database design, spatial system integration and spatial analysis
- develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge and skill in the area of spatial application support, including business analysis, project chartering and management, change management and business process re-engineering
- provide leadership for GIS innovations and projects to ensure the County’s strategic goals are achieved; leverage existing technology, identify opportunities to spatially enable existing application, prepare and present recommendations to management and Executive Team
- develop and maintain a corporate GIS data repository, maximize GIS and related applications through continuous process improvement, provide GIS training to staff and produce high quality documentation
- provide on call support to the Strathcona County Emergency Operation Centre when required including providing spatial analysis, creating special maps and relevant spatial data sets prior to, during and after an emergency has been declared
- assist departments in planning and preparing technology-related budget material by providing the required
- mentoring others, leading through example and demonstrating dependability, reliability, consistency, flexibility and teamwork and ensuring that projects are completed on time and on budget
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
- a degree or two-year diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, or other related Spatial Technology discipline plus five years of relevant experience at a senior level with increased levels of responsibility
- demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities effectively and efficiently
- demonstrated effective leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- well developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- a solid technical foundation that encompasses logical and analytical thinking coupled with strong business acumen
- demonstrated skills in GeoDatabases, ESRI Server based software (ArcSDE ArcIMS, ArcGIS Server), ArcGIS Suite, MS-SQL, Safe Software FME (or Model Builder) and a willingness to pursue professional development
- municipal, asset management and AutoMate experience and an understanding of scripting languages will be considered assets
The annual salary range for this permanent position is $60,115 to $75,148, working 35 hours per week.
