Location: Engineering Technology Centre, Ridge Road Campus, College of the North Atlantic
Job Type: TEMPORARY – August 2007 to December 2007
Duties: The primary assignment of the successful candidate will be to instruct students, facilitate learning and evaluate student progress in the Geomatics Engineering Technology Program; to plan, organize and manage learning activities and resources in classroom; and to provide academic advising services and other duties consistent with maintaining quality student-centered instruction. Typical work assignments could be from the areas of computer programming (Visual Basic), photogrammetry, digital mapping, plane surveying, GIS, GPS, and surveying field camp.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess extensive knowledge of the subject and current teaching/learning methods; strong oral and written communication skills; analytical and organizational abilities; as well as the ability to work effectively as a team member. Candidates must have a strong commitment to a student-centered approach to teaching and to student success strategies. An extensive knowledge of hydrographic surveying is desired. Advanced knowledge and skills in Geomatics discipline such as GIS, Geodetic, Cadastral, Precision Positioning, Remote Sensing, and Adjustments are also required. The required knowledge and skills would normally be acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Geomatics, or a Diploma in Geomatics Engineering Technology with a Bachelor of Technology combined with several years of recent relevant industry experience. A Bachelor of Education (Post-Secondary or Secondary) Degree, experience teaching at a post-secondary level, and an appropriate professional designation would be considered definite assets.
Salary: As per College of the North Atlantic Faculty Collective Agreement.
