With the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands, Resource Management Department, your main focus as Spatial Data Analyst will be to develop and maintain Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and databases in order to: acquire land use data, perform data analysis and provide spatial analysis on impacts of land use decisions. These decisions will have an emphasis on local government regulations of farming in farming areas. As an integral member of the Strengthening Farming Program you will develop standards for data collection, data analysis, data reports and data distribution for agricultural land use information. Another important role will be providing expert technical advice in mapping, use of technologies, information and analysis to support the objectives of the Strengthening Farming Program.
You possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, Agricultural or Environment Sciences augmented by considerable (4 years) current experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience supplemented with technical training in database and GIS may also be considered. You are able to demonstrate your experience manipulating and integrating geographical and statistical data using multiple GIS systems. You are proficient in the use and design of relational database systems. Your experience in report writing and creating digital, graphical and cartographic products and associated descriptive statistics is an asset.
