Experience

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience is required in EACH of the following:

. In using various software programs and operating systems such as CAD packages and GIS software and Microsoft Office.
. Collecting/compiling, analyzing, and presenting scientific/geo-spatial data in digital, graphic, chart/map, or other representational form.
. Examining, validating and assessing the quality of data/data products.
. Working with Geomatics-related multimedia.
. Consulting with and providing technical advice, information and services to management, professionals, stakeholders, suppliers or clients in response to written and verbal requests related to the interpretation, validity or accessibility of the data/products.

Other Merit Criteria and Conditions of Employment

  • The following merit criteria may be required for this position. Applicants should indicate in their application if they meet the merit criteria.
    • Successful completion of a recognized post secondary course in Geomatics, land survey or any other specialty related to the duties of the position
    • Experience in the use of field instruments (such as GPS receivers, total stations) and field procedures
    • Training in the use of ESRI ARCGIS software.
    • Experience in using ESRI ARCGIS software in an operating environment
    • Knowledge of the Canada Lands Survey System

Challenge

Geomatic Technologists at NRCan may be required to:

Prepare and proof a wide variety of imaging products, operate and maintain a variety of imaging systems and other equipment

Organize, modify, convert, transmit and reproduce digital files, hard copy imaging and cartography products

Operate and maintain technical equipment to prepare and enhance imaging products

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments and trends in imaging and converging technologies

Provide advice and guidance to clients on cost-recovery projects; collect, verify and interpret technical data and discuss product use and requirements with client and service providers.
