Community Resources, Child & Family Services Division, is seeking an energetic, creative and motivated individual to be part of a provincial team which works cooperatively in a matrix environment. As the Manager, First Nations and Métis Liaison you will be responsible for First Nations and Métis Services, headquartered in Regina.
The successful candidate’s major responsibilities will include:
- Negotiate and monitor FNCFS /DCR agreements;
- Research, analyze and propose strategies for development and implementation of child and family services to First Nations and Métis peoples;
- Provide direction and leadership to regional directors and program managers on development and implementation of alternatives to individual case work that reflect First Nations approaches to healing and problem solving;
- Liaison between the department and First Nations agencies to facilitate resolutions and problem solving at the regional and provincial levels;
- Support First Nations agencies in developing accountability and quality mechanisms;
- Serve as a consultant for Saskatchewan First Nations/Métis children in care of other provinces;
- Oversee the approval and expenditures for cases transferred to First Nations agencies; and
- Provide advice to department’s Executive Management on relationships and services to First Nations/Métis peoples.
Flexible hours and significant travel, and days away from headquarters are required.
Typically the above knowledge and expertise required for this position would be obtained through a BISW or BSW degree with several years experience in Child and Family Services and expert knowledge of First Nations/Métis issues. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
