Anticipatory Staffing
The Archaeology and History Division is currently seeking a dynamic individual who will, under the supervision of the Director, Archeology and History, and working with the Sites Officer, compile visually appealing thematic maps using based on selected cultural and other attributes extracted from the CMC Sites Database. The software in use is ArcView GIS and the project being part of the GeoConnections program. The candidate is also to perform other related duties as required.
As the ideal candidate, you hold a Bachelors degree in Geomatics or a Bachelor degree in social sciences (archaeology, anthroplogy, sociology) or earth sciences (geography, geology) and a GIS Graduate certificate or an acceptable combination of education and experience in geomatics.
You possess knowledge of:
· ArcView Geographic Information System with excellent knowledge of geoprocessing tools;
· Techniques of analysing and presenting geospatial data;
· Mapping products and software;
· The Canadian Geographic Data Infrastructure (CGDI) and Geoconnections program;
· Word processing software (Word, etc.), database software (ACCESS), electronic spreadsheets (Excel) and electronic mail (Outlook).
You have one (1) to three (3) years of work experience or graduate studies including the following:
· Undertaking GIS projects in a private (i.e. geomatics consultant) or public (i.e. museum, educational) setting;
· Compiling data from a variety sources and file formats (ie: .mdb, .xls, .shp, .mxd).
