Description:
This is a full time salaried administrative position with faculty rank and senior staff status. The Division of Alaska Native Studies is one of three academic divisions responsible to the Dean of Academic Affairs. The Director will be Project Director of the Sheldon Jackson College Alaska Native Studies Title III grant.
Responsibilities:
1. Direct and coordinate the programs in Alaska Native Studies (ANS) including responsibilities for
• Budget oversight
• ANS academic programs and curricula development including an ANS minor.
• ANS personnel
• ANS student services including academic and financial aid advising and social activities
2. Hire and manage staff in accordance with the college’s employee policies and procedures
3. Work collegially with the Directors of the Divisions of Degree Programs and Lifelong Learning
4. Operate as Project Director of Title III grant.
5. Participate in Academic Dean’s Council and other administrative committees as assigned
6. Supervisory duties as delegated by the Dean of Academic Affairs
Qualifications:
• Graduate Degree or Ed.D. preferred
• Experience working with Alaska Native students and organizations
• Higher education experience, including teaching, administration and curriculum development
• Personnel management understanding and experience
• Grant administration
