NEW full-time position in Iqaluit, Nunavut, serving Auyuittuq, Sirmilik, Quttinirpaaq and Ukkusiksalik National Parks of Canada
This competition is open to all beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement in Canada, all employees of Parks Canada across Canada, employees of the Federal Public Service across Canada and persons residing in Canada north of the 60th parallel.

In your role as Resource Conservation Technician III, you will be a key member of the resource conservation function, and perform a variety of duties, including:
• Assist in the establishment, support, and operation of natural/cultural resource management and monitoring programs;
• Conduct field research/monitoring projects; acquire, compile, manipulate and analyze natural/cultural resource management/monitoring spatial and non-spatial data for use by Parks Canada science staff and other employees, as well as research, monitoring and co-operative management partners;
• Prepare or assist in the preparation of complex technical/scientific reports and manuscript drafts, protocols, Web site information, guidelines, posters, and public presentations or displays relating to resource management/monitoring issues for Parks Canada staff and research, monitoring and cooperative management partners, to facilitate co-operation and build relationships;
• May be required tosupervise students and casual staff.
You have graduated from arecognized post-secondary institution with specialization in the area of resource management, natural resources, wildlife management, geography, natural sciences or other related field.
You have:
• Experience in the development, delivery and presentation of natural resource management and monitoring program to partners or stakeholders;
• Applied work experience in information management in the field of resource management;
• Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
• Experience using a variety of means of transportation.

Your annual salary will be between $49,701 and $60,468 per year, plus an isolated post allowance.
You will work full-time, year-round, starting in summer 2007.

SHOULD YOU CLEARLY DEMONSTRATE THAT YOU MEET ALL OF THE ABOVE, YOU MAY BE INVITED TO THE NEXT STEP OF THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS. AT THAT TIME, YOU WILL BE RATED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA AND MAY BE RATED AGAINST EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Knowledge:

Conditions of Employment:
• Possession of a valid driver’s license;

Operational Requirements:
• Work requires long period of time working indoor at a computer as well as working outdoors in all weather conditions;
• May be required to travel to remote locations by small aircraft or operate transport equipment such as boats, quads, snowmobile, canoe, kayak or four wheel trucks with standard transmissions;
• Requirement to lift and carry for prolonged periods up to 10 kilograms in sometimes difficult terrains;
• Requirement to wear protective clothing and equipment as directed to prevent exposure to fungi, viruses or other biological agents;
• Hours of work vary. Long hours may be required including evening or weekend work;
• The work involves exposure to extremes in weather, to biting insects and wildlife;
• Field work may require overnight stay in primitive conditions;
• First aid training may be required;
• May be required to wear uniform.
