Description: Do you possess technical skills in the areas of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and equipment and have a passion for computers and automated technology? If so, map your future with the Ministry of Natural Resources team as a GIS Database Technician in providing technical expertise in the development, maintenance and utilization of natural resources databases. You will work with a dynamic team of individuals contributing to the achievement of district resource management goals by maintaining database records in digital and analogue formats and supporting the production of GIS information products and services. You will also provide project support of field and office data collection, maintenance and analysis projects.
Qualifications: demonstrated experience with GIS and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies and peripheral equipment (digitizers, printers, plotters, scanners and tape drives); knowledge of standards and operating practices for information gathering (data collection, inventory techniques, data preparation, data entry and digitizing); demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, planning and coordinating skills to establish priorities and meet deadlines; work independently; good interpersonal and team skills; strong written and oral communication skills; working knowledge of a variety of computer operating systems and applications related to resource management; knowledge of ecological and resource management principles and practices required to organize and conduct field surveys and projects; valid driver`s licence.
