A challenging opportunity exists in Lac La Biche for a highly motivated GIS Technologist with a natural resource background and excellent interpersonal and project management skills. Reporting to the Resource Information Generalist and working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for the provision of GIS support, data management, cartographic mapping and coordination with clients. Your excellent client relations skills will enable you to acquire, develop, analyse, manage, and display geographic data to meet their needs. You will have the ability to work well both independently and in a team environment in providing support in all facets of GIS and mapping. Your high degree of proficiency and understanding of GIS technology, spatial data requirements, and standards will assist you in all aspects of this position. Frequent liaison with regional clients, counterparts in other regions, and with head office will necessitate the need for your excellent communication, problem solving and organizational skills.
Qualifications: A related technical diploma, supplemented by several years of directly related experience. Equivalencies will be considered. Experience in general analysis and creating high quality presentation mapping using ArcGIS 9 is necessary. Experience in the use of GPS and image analysis would be considered an asset.
NOTE: Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies. Candidates with lesser qualifications will be considered at a lower level and salary.
Salary: $45,420 TO $59,484 PER ANNUM
