FUNCTIONS:

The Geomatics Services Coordinator will work with Community Services to provide accurate and detailed Mapping and spatially referenced information for public use and civic administration.  Responsibilities include:

·         Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Coordination-Identify data collection, integrity, analysis and maintenance requirements. Create workflow solutions, in line with corporate standards, for the Community Services GIS environment.

·         Cartographic Mapping-create and maintain cartographic maps to meet public and departmental needs.

·         CAD data maintenance-Maintain the current CAD data system and update with addressing, streets, building names, etc as required. Prepare data for integration into CAD environment on a bi-monthly schedule. Maintain data in onboard computers for mobile fleet of Fire Rescue and EMS vehicles.

·         Generate departmental awareness of GIS data collection and maintenance standards. Assist staff with technology and guidance available to them for graphically displaying data.

·         Technical Support and Administrative Duties- Provide technical support as needed to other Geospatial data maintainers within Community Services.

·         Working with and guiding Community Services staff on various GIS projects as required.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

·          GIS certificate/diploma from a recognized educational institution or equivalent.

·          A minimum of two years experience with a drafting package such as AutoCad or MicroStation is required.

·          A minimum of two years experience with GIS tools such as Intergraph GeoMedia is required.

·          A minimum of two years experience with Microsoft applications and experience with a graphics package such as CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator is desired.

·          POSSE experience is an asset.

·          The ability to efficiently handle high volumes, short timelines and changing priorities.

·          The ability to work independently and actively participate as a team member.

·          Applicants may be tested.

HOURS OF WORK:

Monday to Friday 8:00-4:30 (flexible) with a compressed work week, 33.75 hours per week.

 

SALARY RANGE:

21M, Salary Grade: 018, $24.929 – $31.315 (Hourly), $1682.71 – $2113.76 (Bi-Weekly), $43,918.67 – $55,169.20 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
