A great opportunity to apply your GIS and data management skills while working within a dedicated and supportive team.
As a member of the Skeena Business Area, Terrace Timber Sales Office staff, you will work with varied groups supporting the objectives of the BC Timber Sales program. Your considerable software skills related to spatial analysis, data manipulation and cartography will be essential as you provide support and advice to staff and clients regarding natural resource land use planning.
Reporting to the Timber Sales Manager; you will represent the Skeena Business Area on the Corporate BCTS Data Integrity Working Group. You will be a subject area expert in the management and use of our corporate data system. This expertise will be invaluable as you maintain system access, integrity and security, implement quality assurance and enhancements, generate reports, coordinate training and support the development of staff and clients. Additionally, you will provide advanced GIS spatial support. Using a variety of software tools you will prepare spatial and statistical analysis including terrain modeling, thematic mapping, and area/volume analysis.
Your undergraduate degree in geography or resource management and a minimum of two years experience or your diploma combined with four years experience in several of the following fields: resource management, forest technology and/or environmental sciences, land use planning, transportation engineering/infrastructure and remote sensing will be fully challenged.
