Job Description:
The Township of Langley, with a current population of 100,000 maintains a
unique balance between state-of-the art manufacturing, retail and service
sectors, residential and vibrant agricultural and rural areas. Currently, we
are recruiting for a permanent full-time GIS Specialist – Property (Records)
Maintenance to join our team of professionals in the Information Technology
Department, Corporate Administration Division.

Reporting to the Manager, Geomatics Services, you will be responsible in this
unionized position for variety of technical and analytical functions related to
the ongoing development and maintenance of the Property Management Database and
the Geographic Information System.

Exercising considerable independence of judgment and action, you will be
accountable for maintaining the Property Management System database including
attribute maintenance, regular data integrity audits, processing BC Assessment
data advice updates, defining and implementing QA/QC systems related to
Property Management and GIS, researching and making necessary changes to data
in order to resolve data discrepancies as well as performing relevant system
upgrades and system administration tasks.

This position also develops implements and conducts training programs for
employees using the Property Management system and its related applications.
Researches, writes and creates new training materials as well as develops,
analyzes and evaluates training requirements.

In addition to the required technical skills, the successful applicants will:

• have superior communication skills, both verbal and written.

Your education will include a post diploma in Geographic Information Systems
supplemented by sound related experience preferable in a municipal setting. A
valid B.C. Driver’s Licenses is essential. Considerable knowledge of the
software programs and hardware components of the Geographic Information is
required. Additionally experience in ArcMap, Autodesk Map, FME, Visio, Oracle,
Visual Studio.net and Tempest would be a definite asset.

The rate of pay for this CUPE position is $26.79 – $31.62 per hour, plus
benefits. The hours of work are Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM plus some
evening and weekend work may be required.
