As an integral member of the Branch you will develop strategic plans to identify, prioritize and address information needs for the Strengthening Farming Program and Resource Management Branch. In this position you coordinate Agriculture and Aquaculture participation in provincial information management initiatives and working groups to ensure that Division and Branch needs are being met. You lead information management (IM) and Geographical Information Systems (GIS) staff and projects; ensuring GIS support is provided to Program and Branch. You support planning by assisting in the development and implementation of standards for local government by-laws affecting agriculture and developing agricultural awareness products and projects.
You possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as geography, agriculture or environmental sciences or planning specializing in natural resource management, or other relevant subject plus considerable (5 years) current experience; or Diploma in a related field and extensive current, progressive experience (7+ years); or an equivalent combination of education and experience supplemented with technical training in database and geographic information systems (GIS).
You know and understand GIS principles used in land and resource business areas including the collection and analysis of geographically referenced digital graphic and attribute data. You have in depth knowledge and experience in data integration, information analysis, scientific modeling and in applying analytical tools (particularly spatial) in delivering land and resource business solutions. You are an expert in ESRI GIS software tools. You are knowledgeable about land use planning and program management processes.
You are experienced in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and in project management. You have demonstrated ability and desire to deliver client satisfaction. You have strong communication skills, both orally and written, and while you have the ability to work cooperatively and productively in a team-based working environment, you also enjoy working independently.
