Invasive Alien Species Partnership Program

The Government of Canada is now accepting applications for funding for the 2007/2008 fiscal year under the Invasive Alien Species Partnership Program (IASPP). The deadline for applications is Monday, April 2, 2007.

Funding through the IASPP is available for projects that address the threat of aquatic invasive species, terrestrial invasive alien plants and plant pests, and invasive alien animals. Projects supported by the program will:

  • reduce the introduction and spread of invasive alien species (IAS) and address their pathways of invasion through prevention, detection, and management (eradication, containment, and control) activities;
  • enable Canadians to become actively involved in projects that address the threat of IAS; and
  • improve Canadians’ understanding and awareness of IAS and the individual actions and choices which contribute to their introduction and spread.

Up to $50,000 per year will be available to individual projects, and multi-year projects will be considered for funding. Applicants are welcome to submit more than one project proposal; however, successful applicants may be limited to one funded project per year, depending on the overall demand for funding from the program. Submissions that promote the establishment of partnerships between stakeholders and include financial or in-kind contributions from other sources are encouraged.

Applicants will be notified of funding decisions within two months of the submission deadline.
