Policy Coordinator (Temporary Full-Time)


The Burrard Inlet Environmental Action Program (BIEAP) and the Fraser River Estuary Management Program (FREMP) are intergovernmental partnership programs to coordinate the environmental management of Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River estuary.

BIEAP and FREMP are seeking a Policy Coordinator for the duration of a staff maternity leave.  This position coordinates the programs’ policy and planning activities under the direction of a Manager.  The Coordinator supports multi-interest advisory committees in implementing the Fraser River Estuary Management Plan and Consolidated Environmental Management Plan for Burrard Inlet.  Other duties include facilitating subcommittees and developing linkages between the partners and others with an interest in the future sustainability of the Fraser River estuary.

The successful candidate will be an experienced achiever with strong facilitation skills and a demonstrated ability to work with committees in an intergovernmental setting.  Prior work experience should include responsibilities for managing contracts, preparing policy reports and presenting analytical materials, as well as working with interest groups and the general public.  Candidates must have knowledge and expertise in environmental or community planning, policy development and analysis, mapping, and a successful record in managing complex projects.  A university degree in resource management or planning or related disciplines is required.  Excellent writing, communications, and interpersonal skills are essential.

This is a temporary full-time position for a 12-month period.  Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
