GIS Assistant, Banff


The Town of Banff, needs a student GIS Assistant for a 4 month work term during the summer of 2007.

We can offer you the opportunity to be directly involved and contributing to diverse projects, ranging from creating metadata to preparing cartographic products to training users new to GIS.

Your work and services will affect all Town departments and the entire community.

Applicants should have a good understanding of the fundamentals of GIS, experience with ESRI’s GIS products, familiarity with AutoCAD and using GPS equipment, and proficiency with MS software.


The Town of Banff is relatively new to GIS so to contribute effectively to the GIS team, you’ll need to be able to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.

Previous work experience with a municipality is not required but is considered an asset.

To be eligible for this position, you must be between 18 and 30 yrs old, have been a full time student in 2007, and returning to secondary, post secondary, vocational or technical school next year; be legally entitled to work in Canada, and not working at another full time position during your time with us.

You’ll also need a valid Class 5  Driver’s license.
