SALARY: $48,077 to $60,522 per year

QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess a post secondary degree from a recognized university in Biology, Geography or Environmental Sciences or a Diploma in Geographic Information Systems from a recognized college or equivalency in education, training and experience; the ability and demonstrated experience utilizing GIS for data manipulation and spatial analysis are required as are the ability and demonstrated experience inputting, formatting, integrating, analysing and reporting spatial digital data; the ability and demonstrated experience in the use of NatureServe methodology and the Biotics database and the ability to maintain and develop internet websites are both preferred. Must have the ability and demonstrated experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and graphics software or comparable software applications as well as have effective interpersonal skills including the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired results and the proven ability to work independently, prioritize and meet deadlines; strong verbal and written communication skills are also required.

DUTIES:
This position is responsible for providing professional information management and scientific expertise in the Biodiversity Conservation Section of the Wildlife and Ecosystem Protection Branch. Duties include ensuring data consistency and quality control by overseeing all data entry into the manual, computerized and GIS components of the database, responding to data requests, representing the Section or Branch in related information and scientific initiatives, including identifying, evaluating and recommending strategic partnerships, new technologies and data sharing and data acquisition opportunities, acting as project manager to develop and implement approved partnerships and technological and scientific liaisons.
