Bring your in depth knowledge of First Nations issues to this position

Ministry of Forests and Range, Aboriginal Affairs Branch – Working in a dynamic and changing environment, as the Treaty/Aboriginal Issues Forester you will assist in the development of ministry policy related to forestry aspects of treaty negotiations. This involves the knowledge and analysis of existing Aboriginal and treaty rights, current case law, provincial forest legislation and ministry operational requirements. Your skill base will lead you in the research, analysis and development of negotiation strategies. You will foster and maintain relationships with First Nations communities, licensees and line agencies, such as Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs and Reconciliation with regards to treaty negotiations.

You are a Professional Forester registered with the Association of BC Forest Professionals with at least 5 years related experience. In addition to a sound knowledge of First Nations issues’ and culture, you have a solid background with relevant legislation and case law, including Forest Act, Forest and Range Practices Act, and all other relevant acts, regulations, policies and procedures.
