Explore the possibilities of this fascinating opportunity to work with First Nations in Central British Columbia.
As an integral member of a dynamic team you will provide advice to staff on local First Nations interests and implementation of First Nations consultation policy. You will help to ensure the District’s compliance with their legal obligations to First Nations by taking an active and key role in coordinating consultation activities. By cultivating and maintaining relationships with First Nations, you will encourage and coordinate their participation in strategic and operational forest management processes. You will work with members of the band or tribal council offices and district licensees, facilitating effective communication, managing information and informing district management of developing issues in a timely manner.
– You have a University Degree in Forestry or Natural Resource management and a minimum of 3 years experience in a resource management field, preferably Forestry or the equivalent combination of education, such as the Pupil Programme, with additional experience.
– You are a BC Registered Professional Forester or eligible for registration with the Association of BC Forest Professionals.
– A valid BC Class 5 Driver’s licence is required or the ability to obtain one before commencing the position.
