Duties:
The Supervisor provides effective quality control of field and office surveying activities for 10 regional Crown Land Surveyors and up to 50 private Land Surveyors surveying on Crown Land each year. It is essential that all these surveys be examined and approved before being integrated into the existing Crown Land database to ensure uniformity and consistency with past surveys. The supervisor also manages the division’s file storage system, including survey plans, field books, research document, orders of survey and a variety of digital related products. As well, s/he is responsible for carrying out field and office inspections of condominium property surveys under the Condominium Act and is also responsible for compiling administrative plans that accompany conveyance documents for land being acquired or disposed of by the department.
Qualifications:
Must have at least five years experience as a Nova Scotia Land Surveyor and a comprehensive knowledge of survey law, mapping, GIS and GPS. Previous relevant management experience will be considered an asset. A working knowledge of government operations, including program legislation, regulations and policies is a requirement. Essential are effective management skills, demonstrated leadership ability, and strong communication and interpersonal skills. An ability to work in a team-based environment, deal with numerous projects or files simultaneously, have strong time management skills, consistently meet work targets, prepare reports and make presentations are also requirements.
Classification Range: MCP 15
Salary Range: $47,777 – $62,110
