Education

graduation from a university with a bachelor’s degree, or technical college with a diploma, with a specialty in GIS, biology, and/or forestry

Experience

experience working and programming in ArcInfo

experience in using spreadsheets

experience in developing data graphs

Asset Qualifications:

– university degree and technical diploma

– experience in developing spatial models for wildlife species

Challenge

he Assistant reports to a research scientist, and performs various data manipulation function including: construction of spatial models of animal use of a forest habitats in a GIS environment, processing of spatial data including forest resource data, climate data, and animal survey data. The work includes programming in a GIS system and amalgamating various thematic overlays. The work also involves the manipulation of large datasets pertaining to animal populations including the logical sorting and organising of the data and presentation of summary graphs to illustrate the data. The incumbent assists in the preparation of scientific reports for publication including the development of presentation-grade graphics.
