The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands – Integrated Land Management Bureau is the primary provincial agency responsible for coordinating and accepting applications for access to Crown natural resources and delivering natural resource authorization adjudication services on behalf of mandated ministries. It also develops, implements and revises land-use plans and manages and delivers natural resource information.
The Corporate Information Services (CIS) section of the Corporate Resource Information Management Division (CRIM) has primary responsibility for identifying client needs and ensuring needs are met through the effective delivery of integrated, science-based land, resource and decision support services.
As Spatial Information Analyst, you will conduct advanced spatial data analysis on a variety of land and resource planning and decision making projects. Projects include land use planning, habitat analysis, environmental monitoring and reporting, socio-economic analyses, treaty negotiations, and timber supply analyses.
You will use your expertise in the discipline of information and analysis to: gather digital data from a range of subject areas; design and apply analytical processes; and develop products to meet the needs of various clients.
Our ideal candidate has:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related natural resource management field and two years’ related experience; or technical school diploma in GIS or natural resource management and four years’ related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
– Demonstrated experience manipulating and integrating geographical and statistical data using ESRI geographic information systems and relational database management systems (preferably Oracle)
– Demonstrated experience creating a variety of digital, geographical and descriptive products including themes, colour thematic maps, terrain models and associated descriptive statistics
– Demonstrated ability to use ESRI GIS products and other applications to perform complex analysis and modeling on data from a range of different sources
