Service New Brunswick (SNB) is a Crown Corporation within the Government of New Brunswick with responsibility to improve access to government services and information. With a network of service centres and the use of technology, it is changing the way citizens and businesses deal with the government. SNB’s scope also includes responsibility for business and property registries, land information, and property assessment.
The Corporation is looking for a qualified individual to fill the position of GIS Analyst
The Position: Reporting to the GIS Coordinator, the GIS Analyst will contribute to the development and management of GIS-related maps and spatial databases for use by Service New Brunswick (SNB) and its customers. Some of the duties will include integrated spatial analysis of digital property maps and attribute database data from SNB parcel and property assessment databases and other related databases; providing analytical data and descriptive statistics for decision making and reports; producing new data sets by using GIS related software and converting legacy data; providing technical support and training for SNB staff; providing application and user support to SNB customers and, maintaining a high level of knowledge in all GIS tools and capabilities.
The Requirements: Candidates must have a college diploma in GIS or a Bachelors degree in a related discipline and a minimum one year related work experience. Knowledge of a variety of vendor specific GIS software – CARIS GIS; ESRI Software (ARCGIS, ARCVIEW) and knowledge of databases and database software (Access, SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle) is required. The ability to use GIS software and programming languages to integrate databases, manipulate data and generate maps and metadata and some knowledge of application development using multiple programming languages (Visual Basic, C, C++, XML, UML, etc.) is also required. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and possess the ability to work independently or as a part of a team.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
