The Geomatics Coordinator contributes to establishing corporate program direction, provides leadership to establish the regional direction for the program and input for business planning processes, participates in the development, implementation, dissemination and evaluation of geomatics standards, methods and performance measures, provides expert advice on program and policy related matters. The Coordinator is reponsible for regional priority setting to align with ministry service plan, consider emerging issues and address resource allocation to districts; management of projects, ensuring the availability of, utility and access to data, services and products, addressing functionality issues around applications and systems. The Coordinator is the liaison with headquarters, regions and districts for information exchange, priority assessment for services as well as time-critical requests for information, and products required for informed management of a wide range of resource issues. He/she is a member of working groups and inter-agency committees to plan and manage projects, provide input to corporate standards and applications and collaborate on joint initiatives.

Qualifications: Degree or diploma in forestry, remote sensing/GIS/Geomatics, geography, natural resource management, surveying and work experience in a resource management field that includes manipulating and integrating data through use of relational database management systems, experience with spatial hardware and software and spatial mathematical modeling in GIS, or; an equivalent combination of education and experience such as formal post-secondary education or on-the-job training, and related work experience. Demonstrated experience and ability to utilize current Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, applications and tools, Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) as well as in-depth knowledge of (Land Information Management) LIM systems, standards and issues related to data acquisition, integrity, warehousing and processing. Demonstrated experience and ability to utilize current software, applications and tools, including development, testing and evaluation of customized applications. Proven ability to use ESRI tools to manipulate spatial and attribute data, to produce digital, graphical and descriptive products to defined standards, and to troubleshoot related issues. Demonstrated experience and ability to utilize data from numerous sources and in different file and database formats accurately and consistently. Proven ability to conduct detailed review of data quality and integrity to produce meaningful information and reports that meets client needs, within deadlines. Experienced at identifying, investigating and resolving any pertinent data or systems issues. Minimum required experience is quantified as: 3 yrs with university degree or, 5 yrs with diploma or, 7 yrs with equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Qualifications: demonstrated success in leadership and demonstrated experience designing, implementing and managing projects of substantial scope and complexity.
