ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Conservation Information Manager I provides technical support to Conservancy staff. Includes maintaining statewide and program-level databases, cartography, basic website development, and training/supporting staff in the Seattle office, as well as field program staff throughout the state. This may include one or more of the following functions:
1. Provides technical hardware and software support, including both GIS and GPS support
2. Trains staff
3. Maintains and populates data and records databases and manual files
4. Produces maps and/or other graphic products and reports
5. Develops and maintains GIS library and/or database products library
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
1. BA/BS or Associates degree in related field and one to two year’s related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. This requirement may include familiarity with legal real estate documents.
2. Performing administrative duties emphasizing detail-oriented and numerical tasks including data entry
3. Database & computer spatial or tabular based management skills including managing, maintaining and populating databases.
4. Building, populating, and producing reports from databases
5. Managing and prioritizing tasks from multiple sources
6. Working knowledge of common software applications (e.g. Word, Access, Excel, Web browsers).
7. Communicating clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means in English and other relevant languages
COMPLEXITY/PROBLEM SOLVING:
1. Coordinates multiple projects with several variables, setting realistic deadlines and managing timeframes
2. Compiles data, resolves disparities, and modifies processes to generate plans
3. Resolves routine issues independently
4. Develops resolution plans with supervisor for unusual or complex issues
DISCRETION/LATITUDE/DECISION-MAKING:
1. Perform duties under general supervision and established guidelines.
2. Prioritize work independently, working with supervisor as needed.
3. Addresses issues with supervisor that affect others’ work or the overall program
RESPONSIBILITY/OVERSIGHT – FINANCIAL & SUPERVISORY:
1. May supervise a small staff of interns and/or volunteers on a project basis
2. Ensures integrity of both data collection and management relating to conservation projects and project statistics
COMMUNICATIONS/INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
1. Ability to work cooperatively with a number of staff and external parties, sometimes under pressure, in order to complete project work and goals in a timely manner
2. Formulate ideas and communicate clearly with others, both orally and in written form
3. Provide a variety of information to staff and others, contributing to conservation projects and assisting workflow throughout the organization.
4. Work and communicate effectively with a diverse group of people, including scientists, preserve staff, and others, providing and obtaining needed information.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL EFFORT:
1. Work requires only minor physical exertion and/or physical strain.
2. Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements.
