Nk’losm Resource Management requires a Geographic Information System (GIS) Technician with exceptional interpersonal skills to assist in developing GIS products. You will work with Forestry, Geomatics and Archaeology staff as well as government specialists to develop, update, enhance and maintain custom First Nations traditional land use data and software applications in order to implement digital map and database production for in-house use. You will contribute to the development of geo-database and web-based GIS applications by working on system design, developing system operations and introducing system hardware/software upgrades. You will also handle technical GIS information requests and provide support and training to junior technicians and other users.

Our candidate of choice will have knowledge of the fundamentals of land use/ eco-systems, GPS data collection/application (Pathfinder, GPS Trackmaker Pro) and commercial GIS software applications such as ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcView, FME, CADD applications and Microstation.

The qualified applicant will be a culturally sensitive, self-motivated, conscientious, dedicated, and organized individual who can multi-task in a busy environment with minimal supervision. The individual can work both independently and in collaboration with other technical and administrative staff. We are looking for a person with working knowledge of GIS, Windows operating systems, mapping standards, spatial data and database applications. The knowledge required in this position would typically be obtained through completion of a GIS Certificate along with considerable experience working with GIS software and GPS data collection and conversion to GIS.
