This translates into an exceptionally exciting and challenging environment in which you will play a pivotal roleas: GIS/CAD TECHNICIAN Our Engineering and Maintenance Department is seeking a highly motivated GIS/CAD Technician to provide a variety of services related to planning, construction and maintenance of infrastructure, including computerized drafting, GIS, LIS, records maintenance and research. In this role, the incumbent will:

  • Prepare awide variety of plans, including preliminary design, tender, site, as-built, lease, licence, orthophoto and display plans from a wide variety of source material. Revise VPA mapping as required.
  • Prepare, collect and input GIS and LIS data. Participate in the regular updating and reconciliation of land and asset inventories.
  • Modify CAD files received from others to meet VPA digital storage requirements and ensure that as-built drawings of all facilities and structures built on VPA property are received and recorded. Maintain the Corporate Plan Registry and keep the electronic index files up-to-date.
  • Assist with implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Infrastructure Maintenance and Management System by in putting relevant engineering data.
  • Carry out research related to historical records.
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of electronic and hardcopy drawings and records related to Port infrastructure as required.
  • Assist the Engineering Technician with site surveys and measurements as required.
  • The salary range for this position is $55,907 -$62,127 plus a comprehensive benefits package.

The successful applicant must have:·

  • a related technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • a minimum of three years of experience in GIS, AutoCAD Map, Raster Design and civil engineering related drafting.
  • an excellent command of the English language, both spoken and written.
  • demonstrated good judgement and a strong orientation towards customer service.
  • the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
