Greetings from the Yukon

Hi folks

We’re the mapping office of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in First Nation in Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada.

The mapping office assists in managing a Traditional Territory of around 60,000 sq km.  This mostly involves gathering, organising, and sharing information about land, resources, fish and wildlife to the First Nation and other government and community bodies.  We do GPS field work, cartography, and some database development work to this end.

We’re always on the lookout for better ways to do our work and share our knowledge, and we welcome any correspondence!  Email us at john.bryant@gov.trondek.com or give us a call at 867-993-7108.

  1. Hi.

My name is Jill Janvier.  I am from Cold Lake First Nations, AB.  I noticed you used a similar thank you in your message, and I picked up right away that you were from another Dene Nation? .. .  Anyways I am just starting work on adding to our traditional territory map with GIS.  I am the project manager, and well I am learning many new things.  The biggest thing that I am doing now that I think is valuable is getting the community involved in our project.  I look forward to the rest of my work and where it will go.  I love working in my community and working with our elder and our culture.  I hope you can email me too, I am curious about other Nations, their experiences, and everything else.

    Jill.
