GIS Technician, Westland Resource Group


Westland Resource Group (www.westlandresources.com) is an established environmental consulting firm based in Victoria, British Columbia that works throughout western Canada on challenging projects for industrial and public sector clients and First Nations.

Westland has an immediate opening for a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician who can support our environmental planning functions. This will be a full time temporary position, though alternative arrangements are possible. Responsibilities include:

  • Producing maps, graphics, and presentation materials associated with Westland projects,
  • Collecting, managing and maintaining spatial datasets,
  • Printing and assembling map atlases,
  • Establishing and maintaining excellent professional relationships with clients, subconsultants, and colleagues at Westland.

The successful applicant will have:

  • A GIS Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field,
  • Relevant job experience,
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS and ArcView3.x,
  • Experience creating maps with provincial government digital data (such as TRIM),
  • Map layout experience,
  • General office skills,
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
