Westland has an immediate opening for an Assistant Environmental Planner who will support our data collection, analysis, and report preparation activities. Responsibilities include:
- Obtaining information from government data warehouses, such as Statistics Canada, BC STATS, and the Conservation Data Centre,
- Contacting data providers and regulators to obtain information about environmental and socioeconomic conditions,
- Organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data and reports,
- Writing sections of reports and impacts assessments dealing with environmental and socioeconomic topics,
- Preparation of text, tables, and graphics as needed to support report preparation, and
- Establishing and maintaining excellent professional relationships with clients, subconsultants, and colleagues at Westland.
Successful applicants will have excellent writing and analytic skills, combined with knowledge of data sources and the British Columbia environmental regulatory regime. Desirable qualities include familiarity with linear projects (pipelines, transmission lines, highways) and work in the private sector. We seek a bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent education and experience in relevant fields of environmental or social science.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
