Land Use Team Coordinator
The Okanagan Nation Alliance is seeking an appropriately qualified and experienced Land Use
Team Coordinator to be responsible for addressing all land use issues identified at the Nation
level and to work closely with the local seven member Bands Natural Resource staff/specialists
for maximum efficiency and results. This function will report to the Executive Director and the
Okanagan Nation Natural Resource Committee. This position will oversee an active Natural
Resource/Land Use Team including supervising the professional development of two interns and
work closely with ONA personnel to establish the new NRLU data information system. In
addition, this position will assume responsibility for developing Natural resource strategies,
writing funding proposals and building capacity within the Okanagan Nation Alliance and
member Bands.
Qualifications and experience must include the following : Having an educational degree in
Biology; Environmental studies; land use planning, all specializing with Terrestrial background
or Five years related experience, preferably with First Nations organizations. Having a
comprehensive understanding of Natural Resource and land use challenges facing First Nations
in today’s developmental and environmental climate; Excellent communications, negotiations
and supervisory skills to lead an inter-disciplinary Team of professionals and trainees in complex
tasks. Proven fiscal/time management skills, Must have prove n ability of Technical Report
writing and analysis; and demonstrated understanding of planning and policy development
experience and awareness of Federal and Provincial Natural Resource policies and legislation.
Aboriginal Ancestry preferred.
Salary: $45,000 – 50,000 per annum; Term: a 12 month position with a possible one year
renewal. This is a full time position available immediately.
