International Forum on Indigenous Mapping:
Mapping for Indigenous Advocacy and Empowerment

March 11-14, 2004 Vancouver, Canada

For the first time, two hundred representatives of indigenous peoples and their allies from around the world will gather to share stories and strategies for using mapping to secure territorial rights, protect and manage natural resources, maintain and revitalize indigenous cultures, control and benefit from development, and influence national and international policy. Sponsored by the Indigenous Communities Mapping Initiative, the Forum will feature over forty speakers from places such as Venezuela, New Zealand, Canada, Bolivia, Malaysia, the United States, Panama, Indonesia, and Guyana.
